About that Tax Refund

And, another guest post at the TurboTax Blog, this time asking the question, “How are you going to spend that tax refund?”The IRS tells us that last year’s average refund was just shy of $3000, so I offer a number of ways you might choose to spend this money, with choices from both the “naughty” and “nice” categories.

So, why not visit and let me know, how will you spend your refund this year?

What tax refund? As a reader of this blog, I tuned my W4 to have no return nor to owe anything. 😉

Excellent. The full post at TurboTax does end with the suggestion that if you are getting this kind of refund, a W4 update is in line, with a link to the IRS site. Personally, I think it ideal to owe just enough to pay no penalty. That’s an interest free loan TO you instead of FROM you.

I’m dumping my entire tax refund on my student loan debt, to half it… and… maybe go out for dinner 😀

Excellent! Great plan, enjoy that dinner.

I try to manage my withholding so between federal and state it comes close to zero refund. Why let the government use my money for free all year?
